How We Worship
How do we worship?
Our Mission is to strengthen our personal and congregational relationship with Christ and to reach out to other people. We are drawn together by our innate need to worship God, to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. We are to be supportive of one another and to serve the community.
You are welcome here!
Too many people in our community have been rejected and even kicked out of their childhood churches. If you are one of those who have been rejected by your church, please do not throw Jesus out with the bathwater. Come and join us in celebration of a loving, compassionate, and living God. Many churches claim to be the only true church, but they are not. We believe that those who profess Jesus as Lord and Savior are Christians and therefore part of His church.
We aim to engage seekers and believers. As a result, we combine traditional hymns, contemporary worship music, Biblical lessons, and a welcoming and affirming environment filled with the healing and uplifting power of the Holy Spirit.
Everyone (LGBTIQ+) is welcome here.
In order to help you better understand us, our worship service usually follows this format:
Praise and Worship
The Praise Team at Sacred Light of Christ is committed to serving God by using their musical talents to help prepare people’s hearts for worship. They use a blend of contemporary and traditional music in order to minister to all. Worship is a celebration, so we have a good time. We sing, pray, and praise God. We choose music that is fun to sing, which uplifts us and inspires us. For those interested in using their musical abilities for the Lord, small group ensembles and solos are wonderful avenues of service and worship. We are looking forward to seeing more growth in our music ministry as our church continues to grow!!
Worship Through Giving
Each week at Sacred Light of Christ, everyone has the opportunity of giving. Members give their tithe (10% of their income) to the Lord. As a seeker, there is no obligation for you to give but you can if you choose. This is an act of worship which allows everyone to thank God for all of the great things He is doing in their lives. It also gives Sacred Light of Christ the means to minister to our community in various outreach capacities.
Every Sunday, our pastor, or another member of the church, prepares and gives a relevant, down-to-earth, relatable message that is based on Scripture and is designed to be helpful in your everyday life. Many past messages are available online. These messages will help you develop a growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and to apply biblical teaching to your own life.
Communion (Holy Eucharist or Sacrament)
We observe Communion because the Lord told us to do so in the New Testament. Communion is a practice that is meant to be observed many times throughout the life of a Christian. It is a holy time of worship when we share a symbolic meal as one body to remember and celebrate what Christ did for us.
When we celebrate Communion, we are remembering Christ and all that He has done for us through His life, death and resurrection. By observing Communion, we show our participation in the body of Christ. His life becomes our life and we share in the oneness of His body.
At Sacred Light of Christ, we celebrate an “open communion.” That means you do not have to belong to Sacred Light of Christ or any other church to celebrate communion with us.
Communion is very personal and we respect all people’s beliefs about the elements by asking God to bless them so that they may become for each of us, as we understand them to be, the Body and Blood of Jesus. As a note, Sacred Light of Christ uses wafers (unleavened bread) and grape juice when celebrating communion so that all can participate. Rice wafers are available upon request.
